ABC News Studios’ Emmy-winning series Soul of a Nation presented the 50th anniversary of hip-hop with Hip-Hop @ 50: Rhythms, Rhymes & Reflections. Master P, MC Lyte, Fat Joe, The Lox, Coi Leray and others were featured in the program, hosted by Angie Martinez, the veteran radio personality known as The Voice of New York. Martinez executive produced the special alongside ABC’s Catherine McKenzie.

Through historical analysis, messaging, and narrative building, our team was able to interweave the history of music in Black America to struggles for Black liberation. In doing so, creating a cultural, historical, and intergenerational framework for American households engaging with the 50th anniversary of hip-hop.
